Scroll Technology



Today Scroll technology has replaced conventional piston compressor technology as the industry standard. The compressor is much quieter, reliable and energy efficient as compared to others. For the longest time people from countries with developing economies such as India were apprehensive about buying air conditioning systems for their homes and offices because of the running costs of AC units. The electricity bills would be quite a bit higher than before the system was installed. Being the heart of the AC unit, the traditional compressors were responsible for high electricity consumption. Leon Creux was the person who first patented the scroll compressor in the United States of America and France in the year 1905. There was a time in manufacturing history of air conditioners when speed control from a singular motor was achieved through a series of large pulleys that would power the large flat belts. The various sizes and combinations of these sized pulleys and belts together decided the speeds. Being extremely inefficient and hazardous as the pulleys were open faced and exposed. Eventually smaller belt and pulley systems were invented and electric motors became compact and although the efficiency was still lagging behind.
