Scroll Technology



Today Scroll technology has replaced conventional piston compressor technology as the industry standard. The compressor is much quieter, reliable and energy efficient as compared to others. For the longest time people from countries with developing economies such as India were apprehensive about buying air conditioning systems for their homes and offices because of the running costs of AC units. The electricity bills would be quite a bit higher than before the system was installed. Being the heart of the AC unit, the traditional compressors were responsible for high electricity consumption. Because of the introduction of scroll technology in air conditioning systems, now manufacturers have an opportunity to continue and use such advance air conditioning technology for better energy efficiency and responsible use of refrigerants.  

Leon Creux was the person who first patented the scroll compressor in the United States of America and France in the year 1905. Since at that time, high tolerances required in sealing the compression chambers were unavailable, these compressors were not used. The concept was only revisited in the 1970s, after which new modification were made to the technology and used in HVAC products. Today however, the scroll technology is considered the most modern and apt for cooling products. Things to Know About Scroll Technology



Even though once you see how the scroll technology works, you are bound to think it is very simple, the fact remains that it is a fairly new technology that has revolutionized the refrigeration industry. According to the Ashrae’s HVAC Systems and Equipment Handbook the scroll compressors are defined as orbital motion, positive displacement machines that compress with two intermitting spiral shaped scroll members. It is believed that the first scroll compressor patent was out in the market as early as 1905, developed by a French engineer named Leon Creux. Quite ahead of its time, this compressor was not used much until the 1970s when the machining technologies were advanced enough to tap into its potential. Development continued and today scroll technology is used in a number of commercial and residential applications.

These days scroll compressors are manufactured by a large number of companies from around the world. While there may be slight differences in the shell design, scroll geometry, oil selection and so on, the basic mechanism and the fundamental features remain the same. AC Drive


The AC drive market is growing at almost 10% per year, and a major credit for this change is due to the development of AC drive technology. It is important to know that the technology used in AC drives is completely different from other simpler control methods.
