Once upon a time in India, owning an Air Conditioner was a dream. Later it became a luxury. With the nation opening doors to multinationals and with the change in the outlook towards life, this luxury has now become a necessity. This alteration in attitude has resulted in increased sales and caused the air conditioner price in India to fluctuate at a faster rate.

The capacity of the air conditioner (usually measured in tons) is also taken into account while choosing one. Another decisive buying factor, is the energy efficiency (rated on a scale of 1 to 5) of the air conditioner.

As mentioned earlier the air conditioner market in India has become very competitive, resulting in high price fluctuations. Branded products are available at various prices and there are small time players, who sell at very low prices.

It’s again the capacity, energy efficiency and special features of the product, which decides the price.

During this year, there was a slight increase in the air conditioner price in India as a whole, and as a result there was a small drop in the sales initially, but the rising mercury has improved the condition and the market has picked up since.

The companies’ overview, weakening of rupee, the financial budget, upgrading of energy efficiency norms and increased production cost, are few of the reasons for the price rise.  But, they all are having a positive feel that the there will be a growth in sales because the increase in energy efficiency will cut down electricity bills drastically, which will delight the customer and enhance sales.

To a certain extend this calculation is logical in deciding the air conditioner price in India. The importance of air conditioners in households and offices have increased, the steep rise in summer heat coupled with the increased energy efficiency of air conditioners, will certainly increase the sales in the long run.
